Starring: Milla Jovovich, Will Patton, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Elias Koteas,
Corey Johnson, Enzo Cilenti, Daphne Alexander, Alisha Seaton, Julian Vergov, (IMDb).

The archival footage in this film is absolutely frightening, but it is not frightening in the supernatural sense involving ghost and demons. The fright one may feel from watching the archival footage is rooted in the prospect of being abducted in the comfort of one's sleep, while unconscious and defenseless; violated by beings unknown to the conditioned human mind. Imagine being dragged off your bed while screaming, and grabbing to items to prevent from being absconded as your skin cannot anticipate the the drills and other worldly sharp items that will momentarily pierce it.

What impressed me the most was the side by side display of the archival footage and how the actors portrayed the victims of the encounter of the fourth kind. The casting was good, and the acting mirrored the casting. Dr. Tyler's appearance in the archival footage was not reflected in the film, but Jovovich (multipass!) was splendid. According to metacritic.com, the film received generally unfavorable reviews, and rottentomatoes.com granted the film 13 fressh tomatoes, as oppose to 66 rotten ones thus far. I loved It! I scared me silly. I'll grade it an 85. Peace out! Movieporium.blogspot.com.

Flicks, Flicks, Flicks

Recently I saw the movie Surrogate starring Bruce Willis. Although the film appeared action pact from the previews-it was not. But the lack of action did not damper the film because the subject matter was thought provoking, and the pace was sufficient enough to repel boredom.
The film is essentially about people who live their lives through their surrogates (robots), and one of those people, the son of the scientist who invented the surrogate technology, is murdered while connected to his surrogate by an assault on his surrogate with a weapon that got into the hands of an anti-surrogate group. Again as a thought provoking film, I wondered how many people would actually live their lives through their surrogate. I thought it was very interesting, but I wanted a little more action. I'll grade it a 78.

Some of the other films that I have seen recently include Inglorious Bastards, which was amazing, from the acting to the story line. What a flick! Lets see what else...Halloween II, which was well produced and well directed but the symbolism made it a little weird, but it did add depth to the film. Nine, very entertaining but I thought it was missing something. Whiteout with Kate Beckinsale-was not bad, but the preview was misleading because the mystery to be discovered was something so mundane. Well that's all, peace out homies!
