Jerry Shaw is an average hardworking wage earner at the Copy Cabana who is struggling to pay is rent on time. One day he went to withdraw some cash at the ATM, and surprisingly his account ,which usually reads insufficient funds, was endowed with over $700,000 dollars. After withdrawing almost all the money he runs to his apartment only to receive a phone call from a woman warning him that the FBI will be at his door soon, as he noticed all sorts of materials that could be used for making bombs in his apartment. Later, after being apprehended and broken out of custody with the aid of the mystery woman on the phone, Shaw encounters others who are in the same position that he is.

If you wish to continue using using your cell phone, your Internet, and your computer, the advice to not watch this movie is in order. This film induces serious thought about how much of our activity is recorded with or without the threat of terrorism. Almost every aspect of our economic lives is known in some capacity through our purchases and our cyber-activities. I seems the film is asking people to be mindful of their privacy.

This was  a good action film that had plenty of chases to deliver what it promised. Labeouf was great in this film, and his chemistry with Monaghan was delightful. The story was descent, and it was entertaining, but again this film was not extraordinary; it was simply a good movie. According to Metacritic.com the film received mixed reviews, and according to Rottentomatoes.com the film earned 25 fresh tomatoes to 75 rotten ones thus far. I will grade it a C+. Stay tuned, movieporiumblogspot.com.

Righteous Kill and Lakeview Terrace

A quick review on Righteous Kill, It was great to finally see Dinero and  Pacino acting side by side, but I wish it was in a film that was consequential. Certainly  the preceding wish is not asserting that this film was not satisfactory. Seeing these two greats in an awesome movie rather than a film that was simply satisfactory was how I would have liked to see these magnates of the acting world perform side by side.  I will grade this movie a C+ because it was not extraordinary, but it was worth seeing.

Lakeview Terrace was surprisingly intense. Samuel Jackson played his role so well he made me feel uncomfortable. I truly disliked his character. He was annoying and controlling, but worst of all he thought he was righteous when he was not. The subject matter of interracial relationships was the basal conflict contributing to the acerbic and intrusive disposition of Jackson's character. The family conflicts that are quite often endemic to interracial relationships is also explored in this film. This film was surprisingly good although the ending was rather predictable. I will grade it a C+.

Burn After Reading: These Files Man!

Official Site: www.burnafterreading.com
Director(s): Ethan and Joel Coen
Writers(s): Ethan and Joel Coen
Producers(s): Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Ethan Coen, and Joel Coen

Starring: George Clooney as Harry Pfarrer, Frances Mcdormand as Linda Litzke, Brad Pitt as Chad Feldheimer, John Malkovich as Osborne Cox, Tilda Swinton as Katie Cox, and Richard Jenkins as Ted Treffon(IMDb). Rated-R, 96 min.

Chad Feldheimer and Linda Litzke possess a disk which they believe contains very important CIA information. As a result they  traced the disk to Osborne Cox, a former intelligence analyst who is writing a memoir about his past career in the CIA. Chad and Linda try to blackmail Cox. They will provide him the disk in exchange for money. However, the acerbic Cox, deemed  the two as idiots, and he did not agree to their demands, and afterward, things get very interesting.

Through most  of the film I kept on wondering about what will ultimately happen to tie all these characters together, and once these characters were tied together by a  commonality then what?  A  variety of factors tied all these characters together, but at the end of the film one can certainly surmise, the commonality was an innocent contradictory mischief. The main characters were desperate about lust, money and self improvement. The acting was amazing, and the big names and not so big names were official.

The film was not only about blackmail. Divorce, and the difficulty of relationships was a prominent force in this film. As this aspect of the film began to emerge, so did a streak of depression. I felt so hopeless about marriage, because the film showed how success in a career does not equate to success in a private life, or a relationship, that is financially well funded. This movie is dynamic, cleverly written, and it arouses and awesome mind orgasm. According to Metacritic.com the film received generally good reviews, and Rottentomatoes.com gave the film 97 fresh tomatoes to 28 rotten ones thus far. Awesome movie, B+. Dark Knight Again

Before the dark knight went out of theaters I decided to see it one more time, and I enjoyed it  immensely, but not only that, I understood the film even more. The show-times have diminished and all good things must come to an end. The film has earned over $500,000,000, an estimate that exceeded  the 210-220 million I thought the film was going to earn. This flick was official. Good Bye Batman.

Bangkok Dangerous: Elephant Trunk

Official Site: www.bangkokdangerousmovie.net
Director: Oxide Pang Chung, and Danny Pang
Writers: Jason Richman, and Oxide Pang Chung
Producers: Nicolas Cage, Norman Golightly, William Sherak, Jason Shuman,

Starring: Nicolas Cage as Joe, Shahkrit Yamnarm as Kong, Panward Hammanee as Aom, and Nirattisai Kaljaruek as Surat(IMDb). Rated-R, 99min.

Joe is a hired assassin  who is a strict observer of the code which includes not being emotionally intimate with anyone, but this cold and calculating assassin's heart was softened by a pharmacists and a hustler who believed that ultimately he was a good guy. The relationship he developed with the hustler and pharmacists will determine the outcome of his life in the long run.

Joe was a complex character who had insightful ideas relating to his line of work. Humans can become different species, so it is important to explore the society if  a person in his line of work wanted to develop a keen sense of the people in that particular society. Joe's sense of duty was clearly explained through his autobiographical narrative, and the preceding sentence his an example of that. At some point in the movie joe became pliable, but and incident with his love interest caused him to relapse into callousness.

The action in this film was slow and methodical rather than fast pace and ostentatious, but it was acute. The action scenes had to be constructed in this manner because Joe was very slow and methodical and not fast paced and ostentatious. More than an action movie, this film had an emotionality that was  adequate without overpowering the action. The texture of this film seemed just right. This was an enjoyable action drama. According to  Metacritic.com, the film received generally bad reviews, and Rottentomatoes.com granted it 4 fresh tomatoes to  37 rotten ones. I disagree with the bad reviews. This movie fits between a B- and C+. Stay tuned, movieporium.blogspot.com.

Traitor: Man Of Faith

Official Site: www.traitor-themovie.com
Director: Jeffrey Machmanoff
Writers: Jeffrey Machmanoff and Steve Martin
Producers: Don Cheadle, David Hoberman, Kay Liberman, Todd Lieberman, Chris McGurk, Danny Rossett, and Jeffrey Silver.

Starring: Don Cheadle as Samir Horn, Guy Pearce as Roy Clayton, Said Tghmaoui as Omar, Neal Mcdonough as Max Archer, Aly Khan as Fareed, Archi Panjabi as Chandra Dawkin(IMDb). Rated-PG13. 114min.

Don Cheadle was convincing as Samir. He played that character with a questionably ethical tranquil seriousness that induced a belief that he was cold and calculating, but with a perceived legitimate political cause, noted  through thoughtful, and philosophical political dialogue that raises questions about the nature of terrorism in conjunction with authentic perspectives that can be labeled as controversial or distorted from the viewpoint of the the terrorists. As the ultimate plot of the terrorists developed, the film shows how almost anyone in America could be a terrorists covertly. Some could see this as propaganda for government to implement domestic policies that could affect how Americans use transportation. This element of the film did not appear to be in support of such policies, but neither was the film in opposition to such policies either.

The acting in this film was official from all actors, but Guy Pearce's performance as the persistent noble law enforcer was commendable in my opinion. His character was strong and fair. Overall the story was awesome. The plot was sophisticated but clear. The aim of the film was understandable without mitigating its complexity in reference to the dialogue, the details of the terrorist plan, and Samir's relationship with the terrorists. According to Metacritic.com, the film received generally mixed reviews, and Rottentomatoes.com granted the film 53 fresh tomatoes to 47 rotten ones thus far. This movie gets a B-.
