This film definitely surprised me. When I saw the preview it appeared this film was simply another interesting psychological thriller about a maniacal child with an insatiable blood lust. But The Orphan was more than that, because it had an amazing but plausible twist.

The Orphan had a good pace. The scenes were well edited. The transition from one scene to the next flowed nicely, and that helped the plot remain pronounced, as the aim of the film was not lost. The scenes were relevant to the plot twist, and in retrospect once the plot twist is revealed you can fully understand the motives of the antagonist. That's probably the case with good plot twist films. According to metacritic.com the film earned mixed reviews, and rottentomatoes.com granted the film 26 fresh tomatoes to 33 rotten ones. I liked it. I'll grade it an 85.
