Frank Castle is, "The Punisher", as many comic book fans already know. Ray Stevenson was right for the role, and on that note so was his predecessor. This version of "The Punisher" can be called a graphic novel in movie form, or simply, it is "The Punisher" with a Lions Gate touch, which indicates plenty of gore. At some point I was not sure that the film needed to be so gory, but considering graphic novels, gore would be central to the visual and entertainment value of the novel. So why not the same on screen. Gore aside, this was a well crafted action movie that portrayed "The Punisher" as close to the comic book as possible. Frank Castle is dark, justifiably bellicose, and he is driven by the need to bring hard justice to the bad guys. There was plenty of action, but again nothing groundbreaking, just new fashioned good guy exploding the bad guy in an entertaining manner. The pace of the film was good. The acting was good, although I had to warm up to Dominic West as "Jigsaw. According to Rottentomatoes.com the film received 11 fresh tomatoes to 54 rotten ones thus far. And according to Metacritic.com the film received generally negative reviews. I disagree with the critics. This was a great action movie! I'll give it a B+.
