This is the most enjoyable Superman film by far. The last Superman origin film was made in the 70s, and seeing a reboot with today's special effects, and Christopher Nolan's idea of what Krypton looks like, does the reboot justice. Henry Cavill as Superman was great casting, and the fact that he was actually a muscular guy beneath the upgraded suit provided authenticy to superman has a being with astronomical strength. The first half of the film focused on the trials of Superman as an extraordinary kid who deeply wanted an ordinary life; an internal conflict that eventually led him to understand his powers can be used for the good of all humanity. Luckily Tony Soprano did not raise Superman, and he was fortuitous to land on a farm where loving people lived, who taught him to be polite, and literally not to crush the other kids simply because he could.
The production was simply out of this world. Krypton, the costumes, and the creatures, simply awesome. Indeed Superman did not have the traditional outfit on, and it is kind of silly when you think about a superior being who can crush a tank with his bare hands, flies around in red underwear.
WarnerBros.
When the action got good, it was mind blowing. The first half of the film explained Superman, and the second half of the film showed off what superman can do. Despite all of his strength, Superman's best quality is his compassion. He cares about people, and the film showcased that very well. Very exciting film with great action. The stuff that blockbusters are made of. I liked it. As a blockbuster, I'll give it an 89.
